RoHS Compliant Products In Advance Of July 2006 Deadline
Motus Traffic Ltd., announced that all products supplied and installed from today's date will be RoHS compliant. European Directive 2002/95/EC, also known as the RoHS directive, aims to protect human health and the environment through the restricted use of certain hazardous substances. As part of an ongoing commitment to its environmental policy, Motus Traffic has focused on eliminating the use of these environmentally harmful substances from its products.
The main requirement of the RoHS directive is that any new electrical and electronic equipment placed on the market on or after 1st July 2006 does not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), other than in amounts not exceeding maximum concentration values. Finally written into the official journal on August 18th 2005, the maximum concentration values are by weight of homogeneous material and are 0.1% for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and 0.01% for cadmium. Homogeneous materials are defined as a unit that cannot be mechanically disjointed (by cutting, grinding, crushing etc) in single materials such as plastic, ceramic, glass, metals etc.
